Owl depicts a curious little owl perched on a tree branch. Although he has fluffed up his multicoloured feathers and is resting comfortably, his eyes are fixed on something in the distance and he may fly away at any moment. But for how he is pausing right in front of us, captured with delicacy by Hong Bao.

She will create with objects in her paintings such as leaves and papers, in addition to ink, oil pigment and the Chinese painting technique according to her requirements. Thereafter, Wang will often use those materials to create some forms of collages. Each material and colour has an emotional characteristic.

Time Series 4 is an abstract mixed media piece. The painting looks like a mixture of dripping technique and collage. The artwork holds a creamy background and uneven black lines. The composition looks like lost fragments of a puzzle connected together to create its own free-form, leaving slight spaces between them.

This piece is a lovely mixed media composition. The creamy background brings out the uneven rectangular coloured shapes. The mixture of colours is a balance between bright pastel colours and cloudy, hazy, dark colours. But the the general tone is luminous and hopeful, like the period of transition that happens from winter to spring.

The following piece is a mixed media composition. The first layer holds shades of green which we could interpret as being in the deep waters of the ocean. Wang added some origami shaped boats on the canvas. Some are covered by green layers, some are above, as if a few boats had drowned in the ocean and a few were still surviving.

A Musical Embrace depicts a charming woodland duet. The grinning bear is playing the accordion as the elephant engages in a merry dance. The playfully mischievous pair invite us to join them in their song and to dance with them through the enchanted forest, which glows with the mineral shine of Hong Bao’s rock pigment and almost seems to a embrace us with its warmth.

I’ll Dance for You captures an etherial moment when a fairy dances for a beaming giraffe. As the fairy pirouettes, little fish swim through the sky and flowers shower from the tree, blurring the distinction between the sea and sky. Hong Bao’s mineral pigments perfectly capture the magical atmosphere of this scene and their shimmer rivets us to the fairy’s enchanting dance.
