Sweet Secret is a mineral painting. It depicts a fairy floating around teacups, birds, fish and hares. This scenes is reminiscent of the Mad Hatter’s tea party from Alice in Wonderland, as the shy or possibly mischievous fairy looks startled among the delightful chaos. The world is turned upside-down, as the creatures of the sea, land and sky all mingle on one undefined plain.

Owl depicts a curious little owl perched on a tree branch. Although he has fluffed up his multicoloured feathers and is resting comfortably, his eyes are fixed on something in the distance and he may fly away at any moment. But for how he is pausing right in front of us, captured with delicacy by Hong Bao.

Wang Xiao Rong likes adventures which is something that pushes her to experiment a lot. Her work is composed by a multitude of materials and mediums. She will use objects such as leaves and papers in her paintings in addition to ink, Chinese painting, and oil pigment, according to her requirements. Thereafter she will often use those materials to create some forms of collages. Each material and colour has an emotional characteristic.

This piece is a lovely mixed media composition. The creamy background brings out the uneven rectangular coloured shapes. The mixture of colours is a balance between bright pastel colours and cloudy, hazy, dark colours.
