This unique kimono features the amazing artwork “Dragon and Tiger” by Yoshimura Kōkei (1769-1836), praised as a Japanese master of flower-bird painting in the Edo period, and one of Maruyama Ōkyo’s famous ten pupils. A tiger and dragon are depicted in the hanging scroll, created with ink, colour, and gold on silk. And here’s an interesting fact: many artists at the time used cats as a reference for tigers, as they could not observe tigers in real life.
The kimono is finished with an open front and ¾ length sleeves.
